Professor Bedi delivers Keynote Lecture at 33rd Annual SEAADE Conference

Professor BediChairman of the Global Child Dental Fund (GCDFund), was invited to give a Keynote Lecture on the topic “Teaching diversity and inclusion in the dental curriculum” at the 33rd Annual Scientific Conference of South East Asian Association for Dental Education (SEAADE) held from  24-26 November in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The conference theme was “Getting dental education back on track”. 

Taking place over three days, pre-conference workshops were also included. The conference attracted hundreds of participants from over 60 SEAADE member institutions from across Asia.

As well as delivering the Keynote Lecture, on Professor Bedi, A/P Dr Jacob John, Department of Restorative Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia and Professor Callum Durward, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Puthisastra, Cambodia, led a “Special Care Dentistry in the undergraduate dental curriculum” workshop.

This workshop highlighted an initiative to develop an e-special dental care undergraduate curriculum that has been designed for dental undergraduates in Asia. The workshop enabled participants to share their skills and learn from one another.

GCDFund, under its Senior Dental Leadership programme, has initiated an online teaching programme to engage dental students, dentists, and other members of the dental team in the South and South-Eastern Asian region. Alongside the conference, Professor Bedi invited speakers from the South Eastern Asian region for an initial bilateral to explore working together to deliver this programme.
