Donating dental supplies in LaoPDR

In October, Professor Bedi visited the University of Health Sciences in Lao PDR to donate £10,000 in dental supplies, mainly Riva Star Aqua , which is Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF). He also delivered lectures and trained the staff on how to use these tools both individually and together to help manage peadiatric patients.

SDF is a non-invasive dental treatment that is quick and easy to administer, making it perfect for children, the elderly, and other challenging patients. The WHO recommended the inclusion of SDF on the core list of essential medicine for the prevention and treatment of dental caries.

Professor Bedi met with Dr. Vorasack Phounsiri, Director of the Dental Hospital, and Professor Somphone Phanthavong, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Health Sciences, Lao PDR. They discussed the possibility of a future collaboration between our charity and UHS-Laos University.

We would like to thank the British Association of Dental Therapists (BADT) and private donors for their contribution of SDF materials for our project. Their support is a great vote of confidence in our mission.
