Professor Zaid Baqain

Professor Baqain obtained his dental degree from the University of Jordan, to pursue his postgraduate training in Jordan, then in the United Kingdom; University College London (UCL) Eastman Dental Institute and the UCL Hospitals, East Grinstead Hospital and the Royal London Hospitals. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in England. Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Jordan and the Director of the Department of Dentistry at the University of Jordan Hospital, he is a Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University and a Senior Consultant at the Hospital. He is a member on the Board of the Jordan Medical Council, the Board of Trustees of Isra University (a private university) in Jordan. He is an elected Vice President of the Arab Board for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a member on the Specialist Training and Examination Committee of the Arab Board for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, he is also a member on the Council of Deans of the Society of Arab Dental Faculties. In addition, he is a member on committees for the Higher Education Accreditation Commission in Jordan. He is a fellow of a number of national and international professional bodies, a reviewer and a member on the editorial board for peer reviewed journals with more than 40 publications in international journals. Professor Baqain was honoured by the University College London and the University of Jordan. He served as the Vice Dean, and before that the Head of the Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Periodontology Department at the University. He was a member on the Higher Specialist Advisory Committee for Dentistry, and a before that on the Specialist Training and Examination Committee of the Jordan Medical Council. He was an elected Board Member on the Jordanian Dental Association Council for two terms and elected Vice President of the Jordanian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Professor Baqain is recognized at the local, national and regional levels as a respectable clinician in his field, researcher, and an expert in the areas of dental education leadership, oral health development, social marketing, course organizer and lecture presentations and community service. He was the founder and elected President of the British Universities Alumni Association in Jordan, and currently the Head of the Cultural and Social Committee of the Jordan British Society.
