Professor Mike Morgan

Mike holds the Chair of Population Oral Health, at The Melbourne Dental School, The University of Melbourne and is Head of School. In his role of Head, Mike is also CEO of the Melbourne Dental Clinic, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Melbourne. He has been involved in dental education and research both in Australia and internationally. Graduating from The University of Otago in New Zealand. Mike has a PhD in dental public health and epidemiology from The University of Melbourne. His principal teaching and research interests are related to the causes and prevention of oral disease, economic evaluation and clinical trials of dental caries preventive agents. Mike has been appointed to a number of governing boards, most recently VicHealth, a state-wide health promotion foundation funded by the Victorian State Government. He is currently President of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) Board of Governors, an independent not-for-profit company appointed under the Australian National Registration and Accreditation Scheme as the designated accreditation authority for the Australian dental professions. He chairs the combined Accreditation Committee of the ADC/Dental Council of New Zealand and is chair of the Australian Health Professions Accreditation Councils’ Forum, representing all entities appointed under the national law to accredit health profession education programs in Australia. In his leisure time, Mike is a keen scuba diver in the cold waters of southern Australia.
