Professor Mark Woolford

Professor Mark Woolford is Associate Dean (Education), Professor of Education in Dentistry and an Honorary Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute. He is responsible for the planning and delivery of dental education to over 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. He graduated from the the Royal Dental Hospital, London in 1982, where he won a number of undergraduate prizes. He then worked at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne 1983-1986, then the University of Dundee 1986-1994. In Dundee he obtained his PhD studying glass polyalkenoate cements, and also completed specialist training. He was appointed Senior Lecturer/honorary Consultant at Guy’s Hospital in 1994. He was Director of Undergraduate Education from 2007. He became Professor of Education in Dentistry in 2012 and was appointed Associate Dean (Education) that year.  Mark obtained an MA in Academic Practice in 2010 and was awarded a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship in 2013. He has published a large number of papers on biomaterials and more recently on all aspects of education. He has lectured extensively and been invited to many countries to provide dental education support and advice.
