Claire Phelan

Senior Policy Analyst, Centre for Oral Health Strategy NSW. Claire holds a Certificate of Dental Therapy and a Master in Health Management. Following an extensive and varied career as a Dental Therapist, Claire moved into the field of project management. Career highlights include: 1. 13 years working with Aboriginal people at Redfern Aboriginal Medical Service, 2. Managing the New South Wales Child Dental Health Survey in 2007, and 3. Developing and implementing the New South Wales Early Childhood Oral Health Program in 2008. In her current role as Senior Policy Analyst at the Centre for Oral Health Strategy Claire is responsible for the development of public policy, programs and partnerships for child oral health strategies. Claire's recommendations are: 1. Adopt an ethos of lifelong professional development. 2. Establish contemporary professional relationships that encourage a team approach to the provision of oral health services. 3. Respect patients' dignity and choices.
